Eurovision 2021 - Semi Final 1 - 12. Israel

12. Israel

Qualifying Record: 8/14

Qualifying Record 50/50 era: 4/5

Running Order Record 50/50 era: 7/12

Current Country Streak: 4 Q

Current Running Order Streak: 1 NQ

Israel would like to continue its most successful qualifying streak but that seems to be a diffucult task this year. Pre-rehearsal looks like the weakest entry of the second half . The delegation went for a revamp that sounds slighlty more relevant but 'Set me Free' feels very generic and it will probably be lost. It gives me the impression that is Eurovision entry by numbers.

It doen't look strong enough to sneak in Top-10 neither with Juries or PV.

Will qualify because...Croatia, Belgium, Azerbaijan and Ukraine will all stage their entries poorly.

Will not qualify because...simply is not good enough and does not stand out.

Realistic expectations for the Semi: 14th - 16th

Interesting Facts about the Running Order: Is the other of the two slots with 2 wins and 3 podium places in total (2-1-0). Televoting is even stronger with 4 podiums (1-3-0). Unfortunately Israel's entry is not that strong to capitalise on that.

What happens next...: Having Israel performing on the Final will be one of the biggest surprises of the year. It has been a great run these past five years but that streak is coming to an end.

In case that Israel does qualify, I cannot see how it could avoid a Bottom-5 result.

A drug dealer is pointing at you with a gun and threatens to kill you if you don't predict the Final Ranking: NQ with a 80-85% probability.

Some More Data: The 50/50 does suit Israel, securing a win and 5 consecutive years in the Final.

There are many interesting facts about Israel's entries.

Golden Boy was placed 9th even though it finished higher both with Juries and Televoting!

Made of Stars qualified despite finishing 16th with PV in the SF.

I Feel Alive finished 23rd despite ranking 3rd in the SF.

Toy won the PV in the Final even though it only finished 4th in the SF!
