Eurovision 2021 - Semi Final 1 - 8. Cyprus

8. Cyprus

Qualifying Record: 8/14

Qualifying Record 50/50 era: 5/5

Running Order Record 50/50 era: 7/12

Current Country Streak: 5 Q

Current Running Order Streak: 3 Q

El Diablo, the only of the four religious entries that praises the evil 😈. And not only that but EBU decided to troll the whole good vs evil battle by placing Norway's Fallen Angel at No9. Let's see who will prevail.

Cyprus is trying to recreate the recipe for success that Fuego had. Spanish title, upbeat song with probably a similar choreography. It is defitely not Fuego and Elena is not Eleni, but Cyprus is sailing to the final unless something very dramatic happen.

Will qualify because...very uplifting and in a good running order after two slightly inferior songs and a good momentum that can translate to points.

Will not qualify because... Might be overshadowed by Norway, Croatia and Belgium that are performing later. Good always wins!

Realistic expectations for the Semi: 7th-11th

Similar Entries of the Past in the same Running Order?: Belarus 19' (Q), Azerbaijan 17' ( paganistic elements - Q)

Interesting Facts about the Running Order: 8th and 11th are the only slots in from 6th to 16th that have not produced a winner or a second place so far and that is because Televoting is underperforming with 6th being the highest ranking achieved! It is the 4th worst slot that a song can get when relying on PV.

What happens next...: Cyprus will most likely performing on the Final. We need to see the song on stage to judge its potential. There are other factors to take in consideration as well. How many more bangers will be in the Final and how many Balkan entries as well.

A drug dealer is pointing at you with a gun and threatens to kill you if you don't predict the Final Ranking: 11th - 20th

Some More Data: Cyprus tends to have big discrepancies between the two constituencies in the same year. It is surprising seeing Tamta performing better with Juries than public so it will be very interesting to see how things will turn out this year.
