First Thoughts:
It took an extra year for 'Liar' to land on Eurovision stage after missing out Greece's internal selection last year.
Cyprus continues the tradition that started back in '18 with a female banger after a small break last year.
'Liar' is not a masterpiece and feels a bit dated but it is created for the stage and will live or die there.
Silia is a charismatic girl and a good dancer and remains to be seen if she can nail the live. If that is the case, Cyprus will be sailing to the Final and then a mid table result is within reach.
Opening the Semi-Final was expected and it will give Cyprus an extra hand of help. It comes before Serbia and sets the tone for Ireland as well at #4.
Cyprus needs to surpass one of these two as a bare minimum to have the chance to qualify and it does feel probable.
The main concern for the Final is what Cyprus could do with both constituencies with a lineup already packed with televote magnets and a genre that is not performing particularly well with Juries.
I think we are heading for another typical Cyprus result in Final 16th-20th and ideally they need a second half draw to maybe have a chance for a left hand side result.
It reminds me of...
A few dozen girl bop entries...
Televoting Potential: 7/10
Jury Potential: 6/10
Staging Potential: 8/10
Momentum: 6/10
My Opinion: 7/10
Total: 34/50
What the fair winning chance % would be?
0.01%-0.2%
Best case scenario:
Top-10
Worst case scenario:
NQ
Pre-Contest estimated points:
SF: 45-75
Final: Js: 25-75 - TV: 25-75 - Total: 50-150
What do I see in my crystal ball?
Cyprus qualifying to the Final and getting a classic Cypriot result finishing 18th. Tough year for this genre. Qualification is the main goal for this year in my opinion.
